A beneficial yoga is formed when there is an exchange between an angular house lord and a trinal house lord. If the lords of an angle and a trine are together in an angle or a trine, it is auspicious. A trinal lord situated in an angle is always in a favorable position, even if it is not in its own sign. Similarly, an angular lord occupying a trine is also favorable, regardless of sign ownership. When the angular lord aspects the trinal lord in a benefic house and vice versa, or they mutually aspect each other, the native gains recognition, wealth, and influence.
If one planet is simultaneously lord of a trine and an angle and occupies an angle or trine, it becomes a Yoga Karaka (an auspicious combination). For example, Saturn in Libra and Taurus ascendants can become lord of both 4th & 5th houses and 9th & 10th houses respectively, and if placed in an angle or trine, forms a strong yoga.
Challenging planets gain auspiciousness by angular lordship only if they are also trinal lords; mere angular lordship does not confer auspiciousness. If an angular or trinal lord also rules challenging houses (3rd, 6th, 11th), the native does not get Raja Yoga merely by this relationship. For instance, Mars in Cancer and Leo ascendants becomes a Raja Yoga Karaka by being lord of an angle and a trine, but in Capricorn ascendant, Mars rules the 4th and 11th houses and does not form Raja Yoga.
Rahu and Ketu primarily give the effects of the lord of the house they occupy or are conjunct with. There is debate about their own signs; some assign Aquarius to Rahu and Scorpio to Ketu, others deny any own sign. Sage Parasara seems to hold the latter view and treats them separately.

This yoga often brings about significant growth and success. The specific interactions, such as mutual aspects or exchanges between these lords, enhance the positivity in a natal chart. Moreover, a planet that governs both an angle and a trine can become a Yoga Karaka, further strengthening its beneficial impact on one's life.
